Chocolate Pecan Nut Brownies

Ingredients

Main Ingredient Group

60ml cocoa powder
120ml hot milk
30g Stork Baking Margarine (very soft or melted)
50g castor sugar
5ml vanilla essence
120ml cake flour
30g pecan nuts, chopped
2 egg yolks, beaten
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
2ml salt

Step by step method

  1. Mix the cocoa, milk, Stork Bake, castor sugar and vanilla essence.
  2. Add the flour, nuts, beaten egg yolks and salt.
  3. Fold in the egg whites so that the mixture is thick but pourable.
  4. Pour into an 18 x 18 cm baking tin brushed with Stork Bake and dusted with flour.
  5. Bake at 170°C until they rise and set (about 15 - 20 minutes).
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before cutting into squares.
