THOSE LITTLE BIG WINS

Posted:

This Heritage Month, we are revisiting and celebrating the proudest moments in our nation’s history. From awe-inspiring moments entrenched in our South African souls, to the smallest win that fills us with pride. Special moments are not only the ones the whole world gets to see. These are the little-big wins that are shared with family. Be it at your grandmother’s house, your home – and always with the closest people to you, these are your special moments celebrated with warmth.

Your gogo is more excited than you. The family is proud of your achievements. But, before you plant yourself down on the sofa next to your favourite cousin, you first fix the doily that has shifted back into place. Your paper plate is filled with baked-goodies. You look around before sinking your teeth into a scone, a koeksister or your aunt’s “surprise” cake (the one that surprises even the baker herself when she gets it right).  You are filled with a sense of satisfaction…you have brought the family together. Years later, looking at your oven, you will think about this moment because through it all, Stork.

So, the next time you celebrate, try out the Baked Lemon Meringue Sago Puddings. Next week, Stork brings you another great moment in South African history, together with a new recipe for you to try out.

MOMENT 2: SHATTERING RECORDS

One of the most beautiful things about our country is that you can come from a place that rarely tastes success, but when it happens, the sweetness is celebrated by baking.

From the very first title, the very first record she shattered, Mzansi baked in appreciation and in celebration. For a while, everything becomes perfect, and you know that this memory will live with you, forever.

As we think back to our proudest moments this Heritage Month, think back to your own very special moments and relive them through baking. Because through it all, Stork.

So, the next time you celebrate, try out this Mealie Bread Vetkoek.  Next week, Stork brings you another great moment in South African history, together with a new recipe for you to try out.

MOMENT 3: FORGING A NEW PATH

From Mzansi to oorkant…levels, kwedini. When our very own took over one of the biggest shows in the world, and held it down, for years. This is another moment that speaks to Mzansi’s pride and heritage – a celebration fit for baking.

Sometimes the ingredients that mould us into our finest selves are sourced from all over. From the teasing games on the streets as children, the clowning around, right down to the nicknames we all hated back then. And through it all, Stork. We look back to those moments and laugh… sometimes all the way to the bank.

So, the next time you celebrate, try out the Stork Oxtail Stew with Pesto-Swirled Dombolo. Happy baking, Mzansi…
