Ingredients

Main Ingredient Group

250g Stork Baking Margarine
625ml sugar
60ml vegetable oil
2 eggs
2000ml flour
10ml baking powder
375ml desiccated coconut
7 cardamom pods, finely pounded
5ml naartjie peel, finely pounded
1 Walnuts for garnishing

Step by step method

  1. Cream the Stork Bake and sugar. Add oil and mix well. Beat eggs separately, then beat into creamed mixture.
  2. Sift flour and baking powder. Add coconut, cardamom and naartjie peel.
  3. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix to a dough that can be rolled out. Roll out on floured surface to 5mm thickness.
  4. Print a pattern on the dough with a fork and cut into squares. Decorate with a walnut in the centre of each square.
  5. Place on a greased baking tray and bake at 180°C for 15 - 20 minutes. Loosen biscuits and cool on wire rack.
